Don't Eat Fats to Lose Fat? Think Again!

How many times have you heard from uninformed bodybuilding gurus that you need to stop eating all sorts of fat in order to "starve the fat cells" and lose fat. ?The answer to this question, unfortunately, is way too many times.

Fats are not all created equal. You have good fats and bad fats. ?Without the intake of good fats a lot of the body's essential functions are compromised such as brain function, joint health, and hormonal production which in turn will negatively affect your ability to grow muscle and to lose fat! Thus, you need to consume good fats.

Good fats come in the form of extra virgin olive oil, flaxseed oil, fish oils, nuts and coconut oil. ?Bad fats come in the form of lard and even worse, man made partially hydrogenated oils. ?These partially hydrogenated fats are worse than anything as the body does not know how to deal with them. ?After all, man created them, not Mother Nature. ?Their melting point is very high, requiring temperatures over 98 degrees to melt them. ?The problem is that the human body operates at around 98 degrees Farenheit. ?So what happens to partially hydrogenated oils once consumed? ?They end up hardening up inside of your arteries causing high cholesterol, insulin resistance, diabetes and heart disease. ?If you see a food label with an ingredient that reads "partially hydrogenated oil" make sure you run away from that food.

How much good fat do you need to consume? You need at least 20% of your total calories in the form of good fats. ?And when following an advanced bodybuilding technique like carbohydrate cycling in order to go from 10% body fat to low single digits, you need to increase your fats slightly.

With that said I want to share with you an article from fitness trainer, registered nurse, natural bodybuilder and figure athlete Cecile Bayeul on The Importance of Fats and Basic Bodybuilding Diet Rules for Fat Loss.
