Weight Lifting - Increase Body Mass and Improve Self-Regard

General health is the concern of all men and women but in spite of regular health and fitness regimes there are people who are unable to change their body shapes or increase their weights. It is true that most people exercise to loose weight but there are many who exercise to gain body mass and appear better shaped. This problem is common with men who are lean and thin. Their main areas of attention or putting on body mass are chest, hands and legs. It is essential for such people to gain some weight because their self regard is often at stake.

There are various instances when thin people are targets of jokes and mockery. They are no better than the obese lot in such cases. Also it is possible that the thin people are not fit even though they are not fat. Hence it becomes essential for them to exercise so that they can gain weight and also improve their fitness levels. Weight lifting is one of the best forms of exercises for doing the same. Through weight lifting the body mass can also be increased and the overall health and fitness levels of the body can be improved.

Through weight lifting the joints of the knees are strengthened and it also helps in putting a little strain on the other bones for their improvement. With stronger bones the body has a better chance of combating breakage and osteoporosis. But one of the main advantages of weight lifting is that it helps to increase the muscles and the overall size of the body. The body becomes more firm and shapely which helps it look more attractive and increases self regard.

Through weight lifting there are various vigorous exercises which can be performed easily. This in turn helps in increasing the cardiovascular endurance and helps in functions of the heart also. Through these exercises the muscle strength is also increased which helps in tolerating intense exercises easily. The metabolic rate of the body is also affected through the same which helps you to burn food with increased speed. The increased metabolic rate helps in improving your appetite which results in eating more food. Nutritious meals which include proteins and other essential nutrients helps in improving the body mass.

The fat burning enzymes are also increased in the body which helps in losing weight in the right areas but helps to develop the muscles of areas which you want to accentuate like the chests and the arms. Weights should be lifted the right way so that you don't strain or pull a muscle. The repetitions should be done at least 8 to 12 times per set so that the body can intensify the muscle building process.

Usually there are 8 to 12 repetitions in one set of exercises. At least 3 to 4 sets of each exercise should be done to get the maximum impact. But beginners should stick to one or two sets and increase the same over a period of time. The larger muscles should be worked out first because the smaller muscles get tired very easily.
